Rincon Beach in December

Tim and I had a great time camping with the group at the Pala Reservation in Northern San Diego County. Three days after we got back home we decided to spend a week dry camping (camping an RV without hookup to Utilities) along the coast at the Rincon Parkway in Ventura

I started the morning early with a quick drive to San Diego to visit a customer and ended up being towed home 60 miles with a blown transmission in my 1990 service truck. I was sure I planned to go then as nothing bad was going to happen to the RV. Thank you Triple A

Our Plan was to get into the first come first serve RV County Park before the holiday weekend and set up before the rain that was expected the next day. We headed out around 10 AM and were at the beach by 1:30 with no issues. Tim wanted to take the 5 days off to catch up on year end books and update the Club event registrations for 2017.We were well on our way to be all set up and able to make a great fire that first evening.

The next morning was great sleeping because the rain set in and pounded on the awning as the weather rushed the waves up against the coastal rock wall. The weather was not very cooperative for most rv vacations so we had little company the entire weekend. I decided to set up emergency reflectors in the space behind us to warn approaching traffic that there was a RV up ahead. I also kept our DOT parking lights on the entire week we were there. Most RV's have these markers and a set is less than $20. At Napa auto parts    .

Tim was up and outside setting up more Christmas light when the LA channel 4 news Van stopped to interview him about the light display. It turns out that someone saw the light display the night before and the news crew wanted to come by and ask about it. I was excited because I knew it would make my Tim happy.

It was a good time and the weather warmed up so we decided to stay longer. We didn't bring a tow'ed car and didn't think the reindeer would stay on top for a trip the Vons grocery. I wasn't up against the clock and Vons was only 5 miles away so I walked and hitch a ride into Ventura and Uber'ed back with 4 bags of groceries, including 2 packages of marshmallows. Hitching to Vons was less dangerous than the Uber I was sent. Waiting for Uber to arrive you can watch a GPS image of the driver approach you. The little icon car turned around in full circles four times before making it to Vons. I thought my GPS was losing signal or something but after the Uber driver realized she was on the onramp to the wrong freeway and flipped a U turn in one way traffic I was confident my smart phone was the smarter one. She looked at me as I genuflected and said "you Catholic" ? I said yes and you will be in my prayers for a week. We both busted out in laughter and made it to the RV stress free.

Until the next Trip

Kamp with Tim and Greg next year

When I got back Tim was receiving the last delivery of fire wood from Scotty a local truck farmer and great guy who we have used in the past to deliver wood. Scotty's contact number is   805-377-6278     . He drives a Green Dodge Pickup truck. He doesn't huckster wood so you need to call him or flag him down as he passes by. Tim and I continued our wonderful week of Campfires. There was a stream of cars maybe 5 cars an hour passing by taking pictures and stopping to say Merry Christmas. Several Rainbow RV members stopped by to visit and some of the people who drove by for pictures spent time enjoying the fire Tim maintained in the rocks. We continued our Online work and enjoyed the million dollar view at $28.00 per night.

Until the next Trip
