Paso Robles March 2012

Tim and I took off on a 10 day trip at the end of March. Our first event and destination was the Central California chapters second annual Paso Robles event. PasoR is a Vineyard winery town north of Los Angeles less than midway to SanFran .We hooked up the Rainbow van at home as our tow and made our way to fill the Bus 300 gallon diesel tank with a bit of love.
"two diet cokes and put the balance on pump 15 please" "OK Sir, $997.00 on 15"

The bus cruised without issue at about 67 mph. My dump-truck s computer shuts down the throttle at 57 mph. I like to take advantage of the added levity to pass up a couple of big rigs when I drive our bus. Tim doesn't like to drive when we tow the Van so I dint ask him to switch up. What I don't understand is why he insists on finding a Jack-in-the box that will accommodate a 65 foot long rig when part of that rig is a fully stocked kitchen?

It is quite amusing when we tow the Rainbow-Van and LGBT family pass us up. On this trip eight

to ten motorists gave us the thumbs up but two waived their shoes out the window as they passed. I first thought the shoe waving was a political retort from some foreign country and I did have time to react. Glad I didn't get my jockeys completely off , I realized during the second shoe incident that the motorists were merely mimicking the RainbowRV parade Bus Priscilla and the High heel shoe. Yes,, the queen that shoe'ed us the second time just happened to have heels in his car. Choo knockoffs I'm sure.

Five hours later at around 1 pm Tim and I pulled up to our spot at the WineCountry RV Park. Great place Nice folks. The park brochure has a note from the owners Ken and Steve that kept me curious. I asked the clerk what the story was...Turns out they are brothers and not persuadable. Too bad they would do well,,, nice guys. The brothers approached Tim and I and welcome us to their facility. Nice place Friendly staff. We will return for sure

We spent Friday Saturday and Sunday Night at the Park. Notice how I point to the ‘night we stay'. This is the new event posting protocol. We refer to the nights we are reserved to sleep and not the days we are at the facility.

Friday our host provided a delivered pizza social. This was just enough to keep members engaged and less effort for everyone considering the average drive distance was 200 miles. We meet up around 7 pm and closed the meeting room doors around 11PM. I could tell that we were in for a weekend of great fun and fellowship.
Saturday Morning coffee and bagels was well attended. I bet of the 40 members camping, 35 were

buttering bagels and lying about their fuel mileage.

Steve and Rich of Lake N organize a well planned out wine tour caravan. Tim and I dropped out of the caravan after Tim fell a bit queasy. He recovered quick .
The wine tour was back in enough time to prepare for my favorite.... The Saturday Night PotLuck is truly a RainbowRV crowd pleaser. Tim has in the past fooled with this over indulgent tradition by splitting up the days with a scheme of "you bring on Friday "and "you on Saturday". I am glad he learned his lesson because with a fully functional refer, there is always good news for Sunday Night s impromptu leftover dinner. We closed the doors late Saturday after several hours of conversation and board games. Another good night with friends.

Sunday morning is always a bit sad when members who cant stay the extra day part for their return home. I think I speak for everyone that this was a good event and we will return next year for another great time.
Check back for my next post about our second stop on this fun voyage. Steve and Richs house on

Lake Nacimiento. Absolutely beautiful
