You know that you've struck gold when you discover the Placerville KOA! Located in the glorious Sierra foothills between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, it's a terrific launching pad for trips to California's Gold Country. Visit the Marshall Gold Discovery Park and pan for the shiny stuff yourself. The campground store even sells panning equipment. A vast array of day-trip options include Sacramento, wineries, apple ranches, and whitewater rafting on the American River. This campground is also located less then one mile from the new Red Hawk Casino where you can enjoy gambling, entertainment, kids quest, cyber quest arcade, and dining! Also, enjoy free shuttles daily at any time of your request. After a busy day, return to KOA and relax in the pool or adults can enjoy our hot tub when it's open on select weekends. Kids will love the goats in the petting zoo, rental bikes, horseshoes, mini golf, fishing, as well as the recently built playground. Some weekends in the summer feature family karaoke with Elvis, family competitions, and delicious Sunday morning pancake breakfasts. Come see us - we're six miles west of Placerville on Highway 50.

Not a bad KOA, as far, as KOA's go. Near the newest Sacramento area Indian Casino off Hwy 50, RED HAWK! If you don't know by now, we love to throw a few bucks at lady luck and check out any buffet offering darn near 270 different food items!

The sites here are somewhat hit and miss. Mostly due to this KOA trying to keep up with the RVing times. 50 Amp here and 30 Amp there, getting the idea now? Some of this KOA's best sites are of the 30 Amp flair. Mostly due to larger trees and grassy areas being the best around this older 30 amp area. Some sites back Hwy 50... Steer clear of these!

Nice staff and people who frequent this park. Understand kids are here in bunches. They've never been an issue for us. But some might be put off by the little Guys and Gals cutting through ones site during cocktail hour (Bless em).

Enjoy and may Lady Luck be with you!
