When we moved back to California after a two year stint living in Las Vegas, we put the furniture in storage & lived in our RV for almost a year while we hunted for real estate in Long Beach. Aside from a short week's vacancy required of all long-stay residents, we stayed the whole time at Golden Shore and considered ourselves *very* lucky to be there. Most reservations are made several months in advance, and forget about finding a spot during the Long Beach Pride festival... booked and sold out years in advance!

You are within walking distance of downtown and a lot of tourist attractions. RV parking is tight on unpaved spaces, but there's a grassy mini-park in the center. Good (not outstanding) facilities, and the staff is super friendly. You are definitely on the waterfront... but not on the ocean. It's about at the end of the Los Angeles River... where it then empties into the ocean, and that is the only negative thing about the park. Especially after a winter storm, all kinds of smelly stuff comes down from L.A. Add to that the diesel trucks, ships, and trains that use the huge port facilities right "next door," and you sometimes have a toxic brew that once or twice was really overpowering. I know the city of Long Beach is making a great effort to clean up the air pollution in the area, so it may well have improved by now.

All in all we enjoyed our stay there, biked along the waterfront and beach, ate at many downtown restaurants and enjoyed the ambiance. RVers are very fortunate to have this park available. Grab a spot if you can.
