This weekend Marc and I decided to enjoy this infamous campground. And have to say, we were impressed.
Rustic, but with all the amenities you would need for an enjoyable camping weekend.
They have different and well planned themes each weekend. This weekend was backward bears weekend. And, although there were many bears there, there was a good mix of all types, as well. Many well organized and planned events to keep you occupied and to meet the others there. One point that we really liked, was the friendliness. Where ever we went, everyone started talking with you. Sit down at the bar and you immediately became part of the conversation.
They have a splash bar and grill, overlooking the clothing optional pool. (Food was mediocre but what do you expect in a gay campground in the middle of nowhere). Drinks were strong, and great camaraderie there.
There was woody's, the night time disco/dance area, dances there every night. Our first night there, we played bingo. We did not win, but had a wonderful time with great conversations.
The RV spots were spacious, and the entire park is covered with large older oak trees, with plenty of shade, which helped with the warm temps here in Florida. All the streets are named after fruits(go figure). We stayed in lot 113. Click on the map to get a better picture. Each campsite had a fire ring and cement patio. They have full hookups with 30/50amp service available. The cost for us this weekend was $40 a night. They also have a weekend special giving you Thursday night or Sunday night free. The timing for us did not allow us to take advantage of this extra day. There are tent areas, RV areas, cabins for rent, and a large area of permanent residents houses. There was even an area called "The Trails" with a number of paths going back into the woods. Of course, we did not go there, but I wonder if walking is the only thing that goes on back in there.
The park was very busy, as I understand it is most every weekend. Marc and I decided we wanted to come back on Labor day weekend but they are sold out. Very popular place.
All in all, we had a great get-away weekend and are planning to return again. It was so pleasant being among people of like mind. What can I say....we had a SIMPLY FABULOUS time!
