We have stayed here three times and although in the beginning the RV sites were primitive, they since have come a long way to making this a wonderful destination
place. It is really not far from our home in Fort Lauderdale and found the owners and guests to be friendly and inviting. We enjoy that we don't have to cook
on weekends as their cafe' is quite good and reasonable priced. Just be sure to bring your mosquito spray as there are many after sundown because of the
standing water on the property, but that being said, you can still have a wonderful experience here. The newly added pool is small but nice and the showers
and facilities are state of the art. They even have New York Type hot dog cart at the pool to serve simple meals and drinks. We will be back often, they plan to add
dump stations but like all new ventures, it takes allot of time and money. For the value we feel this place will be a keeper for us. We travel in our class C
winnebago and bring our African Grey Parrot and Boston Terrier with us in our travels. I hope this place really blossoms into the dream that the owner have
in mind. The hosts were very outgoing toward us when we visited and made to feel at home.

I love this place! This used to be a sheriff's camp for bad boys, (there are still some bad boys that visit, mostly on weekends) so the buildings and water system came with the property. I travel all over the country and this place has a commercial reverse-osmosis water system. Fresh water with no rust - unlike untreated well water. I don't need to use my water softener and it's great for washing the rig with no streaks.

The place has everything from primitive tent sites, cabins, guest rooms, a regular house and some RV sites. As far as RV sites go, they need to put stone on the ground to park on as well as put in some simple septic tanks until the plans advance on the other improvements. I spent six weeks here the beginning of 2013, it has very easy access for a big rig, only 30amps available and only a Sunday pump-out service for the black tank, which they charge $10.00. Great wifi in the clubhouse. The bar and cafe is open on weekends, the professionally landscaped heated pool and volleyball area are very nice. A large modern shower house and miles of trails in the woods is why I like this location.

Deer roam around the lake area in the evening as well as mosquitoes. You can canoe on the lake. Weekends are the busiest and I think there is a bon-fire each Friday (not sure) and the moonlit nude hikes are interesting. Almost all of the property is clothing optional - and it's a big place.

This is the closest gay campground to the Fort Lauderdale/Miami/Fort Myers/West Palm Beach area. Make sure you know exactly where to turn onto their road, (don't arrive at night with a rig) the sign is small and this is in the middle of orange groves. If you miss the turn, it's a drive before you will be able to turn around, and if your towing, it would be even further. This is a two lane road with wide deep ditches on both sides, once on their property the winding paved road to the clubhouse is very easy...make sure you arrive in time to set up before it starts getting dark...and if driving up from I-75 through the Indian reservation - 25MPH means 24MPH!

We are avid campers (2-3 weekends per month). Since moving to Ft Lauderdale in 2012, we have frequented Camp Mars, which we greatly enjoy. However, we had also been excited to discover Vitambi Springs, for it is half the distance, and from what we have heard and read, a larger, more diverse campground. After calling every month to see if full hookup RV sites were yet available (which we were always told would be coming in just a couple week), we were excited in the Spring of 2013 to find out that they did finally have seven or eight. While camping at Mars over Memorial Day, we had hoped to take a drive down there to get a lay of the land and check out the full hookup sites before committing to hauling our rig down there (were they in direct sunlight w/out shade trees? We're they spaced apart or crammed together like a KOA, etc). We called in the morning and spoke with Neal (sp), who informed us that we could pay $20/each for day passes. That would be understandable had we actually wished to use campground facilities for the day... But we simply wanted to just see it. Needless to say, that made our decision much easier. Upon telling Neal that, he promptly hung up on us.

While we can appreciate and agree with the concept of day passes, all we wanted was to see the place to help us in making a decision. Given that Vitambi is relatively new and is constantly seeking campers,, we wrongly figured that potential regular and frequent new customers (and potential investors) to a new and up-and-coming campground would be welcome with open arms, and that a free drive-thru (without using any of their facilities or amenities) was very much justified. Instead we got hung up on.

While we are still open to seeing the campground (it's still much closer to us), this has obviously put a sour taste in our mouths. Until something changes in their new customer program and their unwelcoming hang-up policy, we will happily continue to drive twice the distance to a campground that appreciates us.

Great up and coming campground. One of the largest gay campgrounds we have stayed. They seem to be very popular with weekend tent campers so far. Although a little slow during the week, event weekends are wall attended. Big improvements from our stay last year, as they now have a pool, and about 5 RV sites (by my actual count) w/Water and 30 amp Electric. They operate a "honey pot" service as needed for a small charge. If you want to use the hot tub, make sure to inquire about that when making reservations, as it may not be available. There are many other amenities, so check out their website for the specific details and rates.

The Restaurant and Bar are open most weekends. Food was a good value. The staff are all very friendly and helpful from the beginning to the end. I think each one has an actual stake in the business (or at least they seem to).

This is a very quiet get away during the week and it may not appeal to those who want more activity...
