Private LGBT Members only Campground with RV, Cabin and Tent Space, Fishing Lakes, Clothing Optional Pool and Spa, Special events and entertainers, and more ! Where every color in the Rainbow is Family

Located in Collins, GA, Roy's Hideaway is a new members only gay and lesbian campground. Everyone is welcome as long as you have no problem with an alternative lifestyle. The campground is a safe environment where you can come as you are, find solitude or make new friends. The grounds surround and encompass six lakes. Of the six, three are large and all of them are filled with a wonderful assortment of fish that will put a smile on any angler’s face. The spacious and quaint cabins sit right on the lakes and offer all the amenities of home. If you like it rugged, pitch a tent and sit out by the fire pit! The grounds also include a great new pool and spa area complete with privacy fencing, a café, and bathhouse / bathroom. We are fast becomge THE GLB entertainment destination of the South East, with top entertainers, and events like Trailer Trash Bash, Convergence Biker Weekend, Bearapalooza, and much more !! There are several trails that wind through the endless tree covered grounds. Uniquely situated just an hour away from Savannah and two hours from Macon off of Interstate 16, we are close enough for a getaway or an extended stay. So come join us, we’d love to have you!
We moved here from Palm Springs, California to get away from the city life and watch life slow down just a bit. We have met so many new good friends while living here in Georgia. It's so nice not to have to wait at a traffic light for 10 minutes waiting for it to turn green. My dream was to always live off a dirt road surrounded by wildlife and tons of trees. We have had this campground for one year now and it went private October 1, 2008. Our goal is to have a place where people can get away and join us.
The campground is surrounded by fresh water lakes and springs. Two sides of the camp are separated by lakes and woods. Our club house is a real cabin built with wood from the camp.

We couldn't have had a better experience during our time at The Hideaway. From the moment we arrived, we could feel the warm and love radiating from the grounds. The property is vast and provides the perfect escape from the outside world. It is evident that the team works tirelessly to create a welcoming environment to all who stay here.

The campground is immaculate and it is noticeable that they care deeply about the health and well-being of the LGBTQ community. The team goes above and beyond to clean, disinfect and sanitize all areas of the campground constantly. Their diligence in doing their part to stop the spread of COVID is commendable.

The amenities at The Hideaway are the icing on the cake. Our favorites included the walking trails that meander around the 30+ acres and 6 fresh water ponds dotting the campground, the heated/chilled pool, sun tanning lounge, hot tub and of course the family of goats that welcome you into the campground.

In addition, Eduardo's Cafe is always cooking up some amazing food that will definitely not disappoint. Make sure to try their breakfast and for sure their constantly changing Taco Sunday's menu!

The residents here a special group of guys, they all go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. A great way to meet others would be to attend one of the residents hosted social events. They are always a great time and an easy way meet and share with everyone at the campground.

The Corral hosts their evening dance parties and special events and is equipped with laser lights, fog and foam machines, giant disco ball and a nightclub level sound system that can't help but get your body moving.

If you are in looking to escape the real world for a brief moment or have a long weekend of dancing and sharing you will find it here. The Hideaway left us with many lasting memories and new friendships and look forward to our next visit. Thank you to everyone at The Hideaway who made our stay such an amazing one!

Great Place... Seemed off the beaten path at first, as you have to go down a well maintained, low dust Georgia road to get there. Once at the gate, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Once checked in, they led us into the campground to our site. Owner Roy came by right away to greet us and filled us in on the details of the campground and that weekends event. Our site was great for a Class A with 50amp, cable and sewer. it was also close to the pool area. We were lucky enough to catch a "Bear" sponsored weekend. They had even rented at 40' tall water slide which was a blast..
Everyone that we met there was great and friendly to boot. We will definitely make is a regular stop on our long trip each year. (We travel in a class A / towing car, visit was 10/14)

My partner and I visited this campground for the first time the week before Labor day. Having visited other gay campgrounds we were hesitant. We didn't want to be in a large crowd where the only focus was sex and we didn't want to be hit on. While all of that is available, it's not in your face here. There is a beautiful pool and hot tub that is clothing optional, large rec building with great sound system and a café where one of the owners serves up great food. There are ponds to fish in, trails through the woods and a "playhouse" in the woods. This place is close to our home. From the front gate everyone made us feel welcome and I noticed that every time one of the staff drove by our site, they waved or yelled hello. We loved this place so much that we've parked our RV there permanently.

I have visited twice in 2013. The staff and the owner is extra friendly and always around and visible. I had no problem with getting a 40 foot Class A in and out. The pool and attached clubhouse area is nice as is the boardwalk down below through the trees. Roy told me he would be working on making the transient RV sites more level as well as the road from the office to the pool area. If your rig is 13 feet tall, watch out for the goat bridge you drive under. I don't use the showers or laundry so I can't comment. Easy access to town for shopping, propane available at the office. A great place for a peaceful get-away.

My partner and I came to the grounds to check it out for permanet living. Roy and his staff gave us a tour of the area. We fell in love with the rustic wooded area and the least expensive yearly rate. You could not ask for a nicer group of people than here at Roy's Hideaway. They have a wonderful pool side cafe where they serve quality tasting food. The grounds are well maintained and landscaped. In the past months Roy has built a club house with state of the art sound system for special events. Roy is always upgrading different aspects of the park...new RV sites, with latest completed project of "The Stables" which has the most fantastic rustic barn decor.

One of the things we like about Roys is that it's "Georgia Country" not the plastic feeling like Key West or Miami, or other "Gay" areas.

Since we've been here Roy has done nothing but make us feel welcomed, and will do all he can to make our living here the best.

My first impression of Roy's was that I was impressed that we got a personal tour of the campground by one of the staff. I have to say the campground is well kept and they were in the process of adding new sites at the time I was there.

As for the friendliness of the staff and other guest staying there I have to give this campground a very poor rating. Roy didn't meet us and this being our first time visiting the campground. I had to ask one of the staff was one person there Roy and then he started talking to me but was limited. I was never asked how was our stay or were we enjoying the campground. The rest of the guest and residents there were clicky and standoffish which was disappointing because of my previous experiences at other campgrounds here in Georgia where I was made to feel at home by the perms as well as other campers. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Roy's.

As for the "cafe" at the campground the food was poor at it's best. The special the night we tried it was rib eye steak. Me and my partner both agreed we should have grilled or cooked ourselves and not eaten the food. The steak was fatty, greasy, and appear to be skillet cooked instead of broiled because of how fatty and greasy tasting.

After seeing the web site and all the activities posted on the web site the campground itself was an overall disappointment. It is unfortunate because it seems to be a great piece of land for a campground. I think if the owner was a bit more friendly this message would come across to all that came to Roy's and this would be seen with visitors as well as the permanents and staff and all would feel welcome instead of it feeling standoffish and clicky.

Hello,
I really can't review my own campground but I do want to let everyone know that no matter what campground you choose to go to make sure its a gay owned one and check to see if you can speak to the owner if you can't beware. Always find people from all campgrounds and ask them what they think about each and every place. Do not always trust what you read here when it comes to ratings we got a rating that was not to fair and I have had several guest tell me who it was. The person that put the rating works for another campground and never has been to our place. We will continue to go out of our way to make sure each and every guest is treated at the highest level possible. Feel free to go to our facebook page at Roy's Hideaway and ask all my guest what they think of us and you will get the true answers on facebook. Another thing I want to point out always check pictures to see what kind of activity you see on each event that is listed on a campground webpage. Also check to see if every event is repeat same pictures used over and over again good sign that they don't get many new people. If they don't have any pictures that will tell you everything. I welcome anyone to call us anytime to ask questions. I have the best full timers anyone could ask for and we are adding more spots all the time. My full timers are not guest they are family.

Thanks,
Roy

Roy’s Hideaway is not a pristine, lavish, resort nor does it claim to be a “resort” unlike other Georgia campgrounds that positively fall short of “resort” quality. It is a bit difficult to access and the interior roads may not be resort quality, the pool a bit small in comparison, and the layout a bit chaotic.

Roy’s is only in its second year of operations as a gay campground where the staff offers amenities and activities rivaling the best “resorts”, all with a personal touch. The staff’s difficult task of successfully providing clean and well maintained facilities is obvious and sure to please the most discerning campground critic. Roy, himself, and the entire staff are approachable and sociable and work hard ensuring you enjoy your visit.

You will enjoy a great meal, at reasonable prices, most everyday of your visit if you choose not to cook. The pool is intimate and inviting providing the perfect social atmosphere to make great friends and you can usually find a beer keg or punch to liven up your evening. I have many friends who visit Roy’s regularly and provide me with an excuse to drop by.

I have personally witnessed increased fanfare, improvements, and patronage, in my short tenure and I am positive that Roy will continue to polish his diamond until it’s bright and shiny and I will always be a fan.

Let me begin by saying that I have traveled the country what feels like several times over and have visited 90% if not all of the gay campgrounds throughout the country. During my journey I have relied on several of the gay camping resources available online for both directions and for recomendations posted by fellow campers. I have come across my share of postings that were somewhat exagerated either by a biased camper or perhaps an employee of the park posing as a camper that just visited the park and decided to post a review with exagerated comments. I thought I had seen it all until I made a trip to Roy's Hideaway, influenced by the postings made on this site I was all but certain Roy's was the best kept secret that I was just finding out about. NOT THE CASE BY EVEN THE LOWEST STANDARDS! Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that Roy's is a terrible campground, it is just no where close to being the Roy's that had been described in the previous 5 postings. Perhaps these postings help to build my expectations a little too high but I was expecting paradise in Collins GA and unless there is another Roy's Hideaway in Collins that I don't know about I would recommend the boys in Collins get out a little more in their pusuit of paradise before writing anymore reviews.
On a 1 to 10 scale I would say Roy's is a solid 5 for the overall rating of the park. Upon arrival my first thoughts were that the roads were somewhat difficult to navigate with all of the ponds on the property. It appears as though the property was used as a fish hatchery in the past as all of the ponds looked to be placed close together with just enough room for single lane gravel path between them. Our site did have 50amp service with water and sewer connection but I was told that only a few had sewer connections so I was lucky to get one, although I don't know how lucky I really was considering there was only one other camper in the park not counting the eight or so trailer residents. The site was level for the most part and required little effort to set-up. Restroom facilities were of average condition and cleaned satisfactory for the average camper. The pool area appeared to be fairly new but was certainly a residential designed pool not commercial and it would only accomodate at most maybe 15 or 20 people and that would be pushing it. In my opinion Roy's has really limited their potential by not spending the extra money on a commercial pool but for what it is it is clean and nice for smaller groups to enjoy. There was a hot tub at the pool as well as a snack bar for customers to order what appeared to be typical fast food items.
As far as lush, manicured grounds resembling paradise, NOT HERE, the grass was cut and the property was maintained about the same as the trailer parks surrounding the property that you drive through to get to Roy's. I can't attest to the complentary taco and spagetti nights as I did't care to stick around to take advantage of them but apparently this is an added bonus to the trailer residents in addition to lot rent for residents that is probably one of the cheapest I have seen, notice I said cheapest not best value as I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, my guess is that Roy's residents got just that.
So I guess the main message in my posting is take the advise of fellow campers postings with caution as Roy's Hide away along with its postings are a prime example where the gay camping resources available online can't always be relied upon in fact in some cases they look down right suspiciously like paid advertising, you be the judge.
Thanks for reading and Happy Camping !
Rocky

Georgia's Best is waiting for you at Roy's Hideaway. In my opinion this is a "Gold Star" campground and one that I would highly recommend. During the Labor Day weekend, my partner and I had the pleasure of visiting this picturesque establishment. The grounds were beautifully manicured and included several ponds inviting campers to enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking and duck watching. The amenities included full hook up with water, sewer, 30-50 amp, picnic tables and an awesome view with every site. There are facilities for all levels of campers from tents to big rigs. Also available for your pleasure are fully furnished cabins and a bunk house which offers many exciting activities/adventures. And don't miss the club house with a big screen tv, full kitchen and recreational area. The pool area is the hub for many activities including a DJ, live performances by muscians, bingo, creative contests and dancing. You will definitely enjoy the sparkling clear/clean heated pool, a well maintained hot tub and very clean bath house with a huge walkin shower room. The poolside cafe has excellent food and an updated menu daily plus a chief with a smile that will have you requesting "more please". At night many campers visit the bon fire area to exchange intellectual conversation and debate world affairs.......yea, right. There is another area in the campground that maybe you would want to visit which is affectionantly referred too as "the barn"....don't miss the area behind "the barn". However, the most outstanding feature of this campground is the owner, his staff and the permanent residents. Southern hospitality is alive and well at Roy's and if you are looking to meet true southern gentleman and ladies ...... THIS IS THE PLACE!!!

After coming to Roys Hideaway for just one day we instantly felt like part of the family and quickly reserved an annual site and moved our RV to the campground. The campground is extremely clean and well maintained with excellent roads in and out of the campground, a very clean bath house, a great pool that is cleaned regularly, a wonderful hot tub that works well and is also extremely clean, and a beautiful clubhouse with a huge tv and comfortable sofas for everyone to enjoy. Roy has been wonderful to us since we have been here and has done everything in his power to ensure that we are satisfied - including FREE (yes I said FREE) spaghetti on Mondays and FREE home-made tacos on Wednesdays. The cafe at Roys has wonderful fresh food that is straight from the local meat market and the prices are VERY reasonable.

The staff at Roy's has been considerate and willing to listen to the full time guests in planning activities and events that we want to see on the schedule throughout the year. There are activities planned throughout the week, so there is never a dull moment at this place!

You will absolutely love Roy's Hideaway and the great people that are here. We have not found anything at all that we dislike about this place - from everything being extremely clean and maintained to the beautiful setting. You will not be disappointed when you come and visit Roy's.

After a two visits I decided this is this place for me. As each day passes I find yet something else that makes me smile! The owners are remarkable! The staff even more so remarkable. Family? Oh but yeah.....everyone here feels like family.

The camp ground - Clean, well groomed, and neat!
The bath-house - So clean, I didn't use flip flops in the shower.
The wild life - Everywhere.
The cafe food - Meat market fresh, good price, excellent taste (try the homemade fries)!
The rates - Reasonably delightful.
The Atmosphere - Heaven!
The cabins - Neat, Clean, Nice, and large.
The roads - Routinely graded sand filled roads. No clay.
The club house - FREE Cable, HUGE TV, Leather furniture, full kitchen, full bath...all overlooking a pond.
The pool - Salt water, clean, misters, sprinklers, padded lounge area (like you would buy for your home). Nice!
The hot tub - A large, clean, and LED lighting. Also heaters for the winter overhead.
The shower house - Rainmaker shower heads with endless hot water!
The people - FAN BLOODY TASTIC!!!

The consistency in all of the above-Pleasantly Static!

You really must come see this place and get your slice of paradise. Myself and many of my friends have purchased annual sites here and have NO regrets!

Alma
