They definitely have water/sewer issues. We experienced unpleasant sewer smell on Sunday September 15 and no water on Monday the 16th. We were told a pipe broke. The place needs serious property upgrades. The staff hospitality there is mediocre. Our site was acceptable, but for 50 dollars a weekend night it should of cleaned and racked free of broken brick, and the concrete pad swept. I would give this place 2 stars overall.

As already stated, the well water is a BIG problem. On my last visit The State of Florida found fecal matter in the water, the next day sewer trucks were in the park. That was in March 2013, I'll find out if anything has been upgraded in November.

The sites and roads need to be updated and leveled, I had some issues with power at my site and I don't like the 2AM loud music on weekends.

The good is the place is always busy with something happening all the time, fun activities and trails, great bar and food, propane and store available, good security, big rigs require some effort slow driving getting around and watching for pot holes as well as tree limbs.

We like Sawmill. But one must make sure not to drink the water there (it is far below any standard for drinking water) chlorination levels vary (sometimes overly strong, other times almost none at all)and water color changes from hour to hour. Make sure to take plenty of bug spray, mainly for the ant infestations around most sites. There is also loads of flies and mosquitoes. (Fly strips and citronella are effective.) But having established these needs from last year, we had a great stay for > 6 weeks. No one had a better New Years fireworks display and party. If you don't know the place, make sure to check out their website for details and events.

This weekend Marc and I decided to enjoy this infamous campground. And have to say, we were impressed.

Rustic, but with all the amenities you would need for an enjoyable camping weekend.

They have different and well planned themes each weekend. This weekend was backward bears weekend. And, although there were many bears there, there was a good mix of all types, as well. Many well organized and planned events to keep you occupied and to meet the others there. One point that we really liked, was the friendliness. Where ever we went, everyone started talking with you. Sit down at the bar and you immediately became part of the conversation.

They have a splash bar and grill, overlooking the clothing optional pool. (Food was mediocre but what do you expect in a gay campground in the middle of nowhere). Drinks were strong, and great camaraderie there.

There was woody's, the night time disco/dance area, dances there every night. Our first night there, we played bingo. We did not win, but had a wonderful time with great conversations.
The RV spots were spacious, and the entire park is covered with large older oak trees, with plenty of shade, which helped with the warm temps here in Florida. All the streets are named after fruits(go figure). We stayed in lot 113. Click on the map to get a better picture. Each campsite had a fire ring and cement patio. They have full hookups with 30/50amp service available. The cost for us this weekend was $40 a night. They also have a weekend special giving you Thursday night or Sunday night free. The timing for us did not allow us to take advantage of this extra day. There are tent areas, RV areas, cabins for rent, and a large area of permanent residents houses. There was even an area called "The Trails" with a number of paths going back into the woods. Of course, we did not go there, but I wonder if walking is the only thing that goes on back in there.

The park was very busy, as I understand it is most every weekend. Marc and I decided we wanted to come back on Labor day weekend but they are sold out. Very popular place.

All in all, we had a great get-away weekend and are planning to return again. It was so pleasant being among people of like mind. What can I say....we had a SIMPLY FABULOUS time!

i have been going to this campground for some time now. the only reason i gave a low rating on the staff is because they are friendly until you try to question them or heaven forbid they do something wrong. then they get all defensive and throw attitude. other than that they are ok to deal with.

the set up is pretty nice. what i do like about their campground is they have a lot of different themed weekends where they do more than just call it a certain weekend and then nothing happens. (which is very typical of most campgrounds) they had amber there in november which was awesome. you dont see many campgrounds doing stuff like that. they have two bars there and they can be fun. ya dont have to leave to get booze. i do wish they would add more rentals there because on a busy weekend they sell out fast which isnt hard to do since they have so few rentals. things i do not like is they will cut back or cancel things without notice. for example last year i was there during christmas time and they decided not to have food in the bar by the patio because it was slow so they sent the staff home. how rude for those of us who were there and hungry. if you have set hours you have to bight the bullet and stick with those hours in the good times and the bad. they need to have cable and internet throughout the entire place and in all rentals.

this place is a great campground for the most part. and i enjoy going there. i usually go for all bear and leather weeekends
