Planning a trip to the Pueblo area? They are just 20 miles south! Country quiet in a mountain setting yet just minutes from the city! Spend your vacation there, or join us for a weekend camping get-away!

 

If you're traveling in a smaller RV you will enjoy our grassy, shady 55' pull-through RV sites. For those of you with the big rigs, we're also "Big Rig Friendly". They have 60' x 30' angled sites, and for the Big Rigs towing larger vehicles, we have 85' pull-thru sites, are grassed, some are shaded, some are satellite friendly. Their tent and Camping Cabin areas are all grass with lots of shade and a view of the mountains. All sites have free cable TV and WiFi.

 

Enjoy the heated pool or hot tub, work out in the fitness center, play a game of mini-golf or join in our planned activities, BBQs, breakfasts and dessert socials. They welcome groups and reunions and offer the use of our covered pavilion or new indoor social room for your activities.

 

An excellent base camp for your Colorado vacation, many unforgettable Colorado attractions are only a 15- to 60-mile drive from here in all directions. Visit Pikes Peak area, Royal Gorge area, and the Great Sand Dunes National Monument attractions. And don't miss the many Pueblo area attractions and especially the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk and all its activities, just 20 minutes away!

This really is a Gem of the Colorado State Park System. There are two sections to this State Park; 1 is the Fruita Section and the other is the Island Acres section.      


The Fruita section of the Colorado River State is the newest addition to this park. There are 63 campsites which include 22 full hookups, 22 electric sites, 13 tent sites and a group camping area. Opportunities abound for fishing, picnicking, camping, wildlife watching and sightseeing along the Colorado River near the base of the Colorado National Monument. The campground is open year-round and is available on the reservation system from March 1st through November 30th. A camper services building is centrally located with coin operated showers and a laundry facility.

 

Island Acres section the eastern anchor of Colorado River State Park, located just east of Palisade provides a choice of full hook-up, electric hook-up or tent camping. Coin showers and laundry are also available spring through fall. Colorado River State Park is actually five diverse sections along the Colorado River as it flows through the Grand Junction area. Reservations are available for the nights of March 1 through October 31. Camping is also available at the Fruita Section 30 miles to the west. Nestled along the Colorado River in Debeque Canyon, Island Acres offers opportunities for walking, biking, fishing and swimming. The surrounding canyon walls offer a spectacular backdrop and maybe even a glimpse of wild horses or Big Horn Sheep. There are three fishing lakes, two of which are stocked. A fourth lake, designated as the Swimmin' Hole, is surrounded by a sandy beach. Area attractions include the Grand Mesa, Colorado National Monument, museums, wineries and orchards.

This is a primitive Campground that is well worth the Stay. Why? well because of the gorgeous vistas, the miles of hiking trails, and the thousands of photo opts you will have your camera taking over and over. 

 

Saddlehorn Campground is located near the Saddlehorn Visitor Center, four miles from the west entrance (near Fruita, CO).

 

  • $20.00 per night per site is the camping fee in addition to monument entrance fees
  • Open year round
  • 80 sites
  • Sites are first-come, first-served basis with a self-registration kiosk at the entrance
  • Sites are suitable for tents and recreational vehicles, with some pull-through sites
  • Length limit of 40 feet for recreational vehicles
  • Restrooms have flush toilets and water available during the summer 
  • Each site includes a picnic table, charcoal-only grill, and a parking area
  • No electric hookups or showers
  • Wood fires are not permitted anywhere in the monument
  • Seven (7) person per site limit, three (3) tents per site, and two (2) vehicles per site
  • Generator use is prohibited from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Checkout time is 11:00 a.m.
 

Pets are allowed at campsites, but must be leashed, well behaved, and attended at all times. Please clean up your pet waste and place in garbage receptacles.

 

Two accessible campsites are available and can be reserved for the use of mobility-impaired persons only.

Sites are generally available at Saddlehorn Campground, except during holiday weekends or sometimes during festivals that are held around the Grand Valley. Check at the entrance stations upon arrival.
