Gay and Lesbian Camping Club
Just a bit about our stats for 2018 RainbowRV is the largest gay and lesbian camping club in existence. Our membership of over 10,000 is 61.5% men and the balance are women. More than 70% of our members are in a relationship of some distinction with the average duration of more than 20 years. We are not sure of the average age because the active group do not record, look or act any particular age. If I was to guess, the average age is 48 with a range of 35 to 81. Single members are always well represented at formal and Kamp trip informal events.
The club is a formal Gay Camping Club and Lesbian Camping club all wrapped up in one. Events are managed with the effort to promote fellowship and group activity. Small member invite events are publishable by any members who wants to give an open invitation for friends to join their camping adventure. More formal events are the focus of the subscription managed calendar. In both formal and in formal event activities volunteer members work had to promote fun and fellowship.
What are the mix of personalities at any event? is a question often asked when someone is deciding to attend. We developed a “Who is Going” list for events with links back to each attendees’ profile. This much used resource allows members to get comfortable with idea that every event seems to be a great mix of wonderful open folks. RainbowRV events always has a mix of women and men open to new friendships, new adventures, and looking to share their warmth.
Fellowship is our product. Food is just a tool. Good food is an abundant bounty at every RainbowRV event. From finely crafted catered feasts to a morning cup of joe and jelly toped bagel, the volunteer men and women of RainbowRV camping club make an effort to gather strangers to a table who eventually leave as friends. Yes you have it, our product is fellowship. Sign up to an event, sit at a wooden picknick bench, eat a CostCo casserole potluck offering or one of the 40 deviled eggs that always seem to show up and leave the table with new friends for life.
Gay camping events take place across the county. There are many Facebook and small regional groups of men who gather to tent and Recreational Vehicle camp at state parks and large event venues. Women also have many other lesbian camping clubs across the country. We reach out to these clubs and offer an access area where they register as a member of RainbowRV and post their group events. This impromptu Kamp trips calendar limits members from private collections or charity promotions.
RVingWomen is as it states, a group of women however they claim not to be lesbian here is a bit of their about us page “We are a community of women, 18 and older, who travel independently. Some of us are retired and travel full time. Others are still working and join us for weekend rallies. If you are new to RV travel, come to one of our rallies. You can meet other women, see their rigs, and hear how they travel (everything from a tent to a big motorhome). No matter how long you’ve been on the road, you can always learn something. Members may use our member directory to find support. Find then at https://www.rvingwomen.org/
GayOutdoors.org seems to be mostly all men. Here is a bit from their about us page. “We began our simple Internet Bulletin Board in 1999 with a simple goal: to bring gay, bisexual and gay friendly men together to experience the incredible fun of outdoor adventure and to create an atmosphere that leads to life-long friendships. It all began in Boston, but before long, we started growing and attracting members from across the USA. Today, we're the world's largest gay men's outdoors club, with more almost 8000 active members in every state and eight foreign countries. We're growing every year, and you're invited to come join the adventure!”
