RVers are the Nicest People

RVers are the Nicest People

One thing that Donald and I have noticed is that for the most part, the people we run into in RV parks are some of the nicest people. Of course the Rainbow RV rallies involve some of the nicest people we know, however, when we venture off on our own for either a weekend getaway or holiday week, we have noticed that the people around us are just more relaxed and have a carefree attitude about life. Perhaps it is because of the type of  resorts we go to or is it because by nature, the people who we run into are on vacation and therefore, much more relaxed. We love going for frequent walks and seeing all the different types of RVs and getting to know the park, and almost every single time, we get frequent "hellos", "how are you" or even strike up conversations. Just an observation that I wanted to share to see if any of you have had similar experiences. Anyway, we just signed up for the Temecula Wine Rally in June which is kind of silly because we literally live about 7 miles from the RV park, but again, there is something magical and cathartic when we go on a trip, even if it is in our backyard! Looking forward to reconnecting with existing friends and looking forward to making new friends as well!

A Year in Review of Two New RVers

A Year in Review of Two New RVers

July 2013- July 2014

What a year! In July, the US Supreme Court upheld that Prop 8 was indeed unconstitutional! Donald and I were elated and we wasted no time in scheduling our appointment to get married, On July 9, 2013, Donald and I were officially married, after 18 years. Our marriage ceremony was quiet and simple, with our best friend Shirley and our god-daughter Randi, as our witnesses. I wont say we did it on the cheap, however, I did make sure we were coordinated in Donald's favorite color; yellow.

Our New Travel Trailer

What a week this has been! On Tuesday, July 27th, we picked up our 30' travel trailer! Donald and I were both nervous about how we were going to manuever it home but we did it! With teamwork and a little bit of patience, we were able to back up our trailer into our driveway! It only took us no more than 15 minutes!

So the last few days were filled with getting familiar with the RV testing out all the switches and making a list of items to purchase. After several hundred dollars, I think we are almost ready for our first trip on August 9th to Paso Robles. I am now working on planning our route to Paso Robles. We agreed to take the scenic route (Hwy 101) vs the I-5 to avoid the dreaded Grapevine pass. I posted a question in the forum regarding a fueling station off Hwy 101 either in Oxnard or Ventura. Well enough for now, very busy week and I want to post a few pictures!

First Time RV Owners

Well we finally did it, we bought our very first RV! We settled on a 30' travel trailerWe finally did it, we bought our very first RV! We bought a 30'  Surveyor Select by Foerst River. We figured our first RV should be travel trailer so we can park and still have our truck. It is probably a little too big for our first RV but we fell in love with the spacious living area and bathroom. We pick up the RV on Tuesday and that afternoon, we will have our first experience in backing up the trailer into our driveway! I am a little nervous about that but, my husband, Donald, is going to have to do all the driving. I'll let you all know how it goes!

In the meantime, I just registered us for the Paso Robles trip in August, Pismo Beach in September, and Palm springs in November. That gives me a few weeks to get the trailer ready to travel! So much to buy!
